*When she was about 17, she went through a "Victorian Era" phase. She wore long dresses that went to the floor and gloves whenever she went somewhere.

*She was in the Broadway musical The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee!

*She is (or has been at some point) a lawyer, a Sunday School teacher, a Girl Scout Leader, an insurance salesperson, community college instructor, a wilderness first responder and even more!

*She loves dogs!

*Right after high school her first job was a waitress at a lunch counter in a drug store; she was not impressed by the way the food was prepared there though (it was gross!)

She is currently working on the sequel to Tyrell! Some fun facts about Coe Booth...

*She was born and raised in the Bronx (a borough of New York City)

*She took dancing and piano lessons when she was younger

*When she was a kid they used fire hydrants as sprinklers on hot, summer days

*She thinks the inspiration for Tyrell came from working with teenagers and families in crisis. She worked with a lot of teens who were homeless, in gangs, and even addicted to drugs. She also helped children who were victims of neglect and child abuse. It was there, she said, she learned about how strong teenagers can really be!

Holly is a New York Times Best Selling Author! She is popular for her Modern Faerie Tale Series which includes:

*She has a hairless cat named Lily, and two other cats named Fizzgig and The White Cat (which came into her house while writing her upcoming novel!)

*She has a secret library in her home

*She lives in Massachusetts

*She is married; her husband's name is Theo

*Holly worked with her friend Tony DiTerlizzi on the childrens book series The Spiderwick Chronicles

*She graduated from The College of New Jersey where she studied English Literature

*She can touch her nose with her tongue!

*She loves popcorn.

*If she could have anything it would be world peace.

*She doesn't like Ralph Lauren because their models are photoshopped to be even skinner than they actually are.

*She has a tattoo.

*She is married, has four children, and one dog.

*She still lives in NY.

*She enjoys hiking!

The Greater Rochester Teen Book Festival brings together teens and authors who write for teens. The event is dedicated to teens! It is all about reading and having fun!

The library will be closed Thursday December 24th and Friday December 25th.

We will be closing early, at 1 pm, on Thursday December 31st. We will then be closed Friday January 1st, 2010!

Bring your holiday spirit to make all sorts of fun crafts. If you want to, also bring a gift that is under $5 to exchange with other teens. Make sure the gift is wrapped.

Every month the library will have a jar filled with something. Come to the children's room desk see if you can guess how many “things” are in the jar. If you guess right you could win! Be sure to check out the Teen Room because there is a bigger jar filled with more "things"

This month our jars are filled with peppermint candy!!!!

Teen Time!!!

Teen Time is just for teens!

Every Wednesday from 3 pm to 5pm, the library will have a time just for teens in grades 6 and up.

We do lots of different things. Sometime we have games. Some weeks we will make a cool craft. We watch movies on the big screen. We watch anime A LOT. And of course we have snacks.

Just drop in. Come by and bring some friends.

So what have we been doing since August? Well, we were so busy having fun with programs and reading all our new books that we have been neglecting our blog. Sorry about that.


But don't you worry...over the next few days we are going to update you on all the cool things that have been happening and all the cool things we have planned. So stay tuned.

Last Friday was our Reader's Theater performance of
The Red Door
by Kevin Stone

Our cast members and backstage crew worked hard all summer in order to make this performance as fantastic as it was!

We had about 20 audience members, some were family and friends, and some were members of the community! It was a great turn out!
